CHINA & BRITAIN:
The Bond of Friendship
This exciting and lavishly produced book will highlight the special relationship between the two countries that has existed particularly since the early 1950s to the present day. It will be an intriguing celebration of these two very diverse cultures.
During his visit to Britain in late 2005, China's President Hu Jintao said: 'With a long history of exchanges between them, the Chinese and British peoples hold friendly sentiments towards each other.'
The President's acknowledgement of the strong bonds that connect the two countries was confirmed and underlined by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who pointed out that both the UK and China have dedicated Task Forces whose job is to enhance the growing cooperation between the two countries.
Now to commemorate the long-standing China-UK friendship links, Cities500 International Publishers is collaborating with the UK All-Party Parliamentary China Group - and its Chairman Ben Chapman MP - to publish a lavish celebratory photo-essay book. It also has the endorsement of Ji Peiding, chairman of the influential China-British Friendship Group under the auspices of the National People's Congress.
The book - CHINA & BRITAIN: The Bond of Friendship - will put the focus on the special relationship between the two countries: exploring in fascinating, insightful essays, by both British and Chinese writers and experts, such diverse topics as trade and commerce, academic and cultural exchanges, sporting links and political relations.
It will also reflect on the Chinese communities in the UK - and other elements that clearly define the close ties between the two nations since the formation of the People's Republic, highlighted in a panoramic display spanning from 1949 to 2007.
We believe this 300+ page, 'coffee-table' book, presented in a prestigious slipcase with gold embossing and gloriously illustrated with contemporary and historical photographs, will be a landmark publishing event in those relations.
It will be a tribute to how the two different cultures have co-operated, and even at times clashed, and how - in the words of President Hu - they can push forward strategic partnerships, bringing more benefits to the two peoples, while contributing to a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity.
The bi-lingual book will be published in the late summer of 2007. Further information will be available in coming months.
