New web site goes 'Live' recording everyday in 2008
A remarkable tribute to and record of
Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture year in 2008.
2008 is shaping up to be an extraordinary and exciting year as Liverpool becomes the focus of attention across Europe and the world during its Capital of Culture reign.
As a way of encapsulating the amazing events and to provide a fascinating and unusual record of the Culture Year, six photographers, one journalist and a designer passionate about Liverpool are collaborating to record on a daily and nightly basis the celebrations, activities and the general hubbub of life in this exciting city throughout the whole of the 366 days – taking into account the 29th February in this Leap Year.
This is another ‘first’ for Liverpool and will reach out to all areas and corners of the city, and the wider metropolis. It will be fun and will explore the seen and unseen city - but more importantly the project will record the life of the city day by day from January 1st at 12.01 am to December 31s 11.59 pm.
These images will published in a remarkable book in 2009 featuring the work of photographers Peter Carr, Neil Lloyd, Mark McNulty, Fiona Shaw, Matt Wardle and Guy Woodland, journalist Lew Baxter and designer Jedidiah Broadbent.
In another trail blazing element we are inviting the public to participate in the project. As people relish the emergence of Liverpool as a truly 21st Century City, and take part in the year-long celebrations, we believe that their input will expand the scope and depth of the book.
You can follow the progress of the project and gain a little insight to the work being created by going to a dedicated web site – updated daily, http://www.01513662008.co.uk/.
It is an exciting, fascinating and challenging project that we believe will intrigue and interest all Liverpudlians and those who have supported it through the build up and eventual realisation of the European Capital of Culture dream
We are currently looking for corporate partners and subscribers who wish to be a part of the project and who wish to reserve a copy of ‘0151 366 2008’.
This panoramic book will be published early in 2009, and will run to over 450 pages. It will be available in three editions: subscriber, corporate and popular retail – which we would hope can be retailed at under £15 per copy, depending on the level of corporate partnership support.
