Liverpool: World Waterfront City
THE planned exhibition and related book are to be a celebration of Liverpool’s historic ‘Waterfront’ that was awarded UNESCO World Heritage site status in 2004, and will also feature others areas of the city. They will be launched in the summer of next year to coincide with Liverpool’s role as European Capital of Culture 2008, an honour its shares with Stavanger in Norway - the non-EU title holder. It will also be a tribute to mark Liverpool’s 800th birthday in 2007.
The exhibition and book will build on earlier publications such as Liverpool: World Heritage City and Waterfront by Guy Woodland and Lew Baxter; and The American Connection and the best selling The Beatles’ Liverpool, by Ron Jones; and The Portrait of Liverpool, a vivid collection of award-winning and limited edition photographs by Paul McMullin.
