Michael Birt is one of the leading portrait photographers of his generation, specialising in celebrity portraits. He works both in the UK and the USA taking pictures for magazines and also produces fine art prints of celebrity subjects.

He studied photography at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth from 1972-75. Michael has worked extensively in London, taking portraits for a variety of publications including The Sunday Times Magazine, Glamour, The Sunday Review, The Times, Loaded and Q Magazine. In addition he has worked for numerous magazines in the United States, such as The New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, People Weekly, Fortune, Forbes, People, and Talk, where he was contracted.

Michael has also exhibited widely throughout the UK, Europe and US, including at the National Portrait Gallery, where he has over thirty portraits in their collection. Birt’s Olympians and Paralympians where exhibited at the NPG in 2004-05. He is working with cities500 on plans for a fascinating celebrity focused book called Talking Pictures that will features scores of Hollywood and showbiz personalities.
